Canopy Shuttle

Campus shuttle sightings near TSU. Students mark when they see the shuttle. Estimates come from those sightings.

Offline map from OpenStreetMap data. Pins sit at the curb of each stop's building. Route lines are a driving path inferred from the road network, not the operator's actual route. The bus icon is a guess based on the latest sighting. © OpenStreetMap contributors.

What is real and what is made up
  • Real: the student sightings shown here (shared through the server), and the three stops (Robert J. Terry Library, Cullen Oaks, The Icon). The pins are approximate, placed at the curb from OpenStreetMap data.
  • Starting estimates: the ride times (Cullen Oaks 6 min, The Icon 9 min) and the 2 min wait at each stop are assumptions until enough real rides are reported; then the route shows "learned from N rides".
  • Inferred: the route lines (a driving path along the road network, not the operator's route) and the shuttle's position (a guess from the latest sighting).
  • What is sent when you tap: the route, the stop and the time. The server also keeps a scrambled (salted hash) form of your IP address and of a random id this page makes up, only to limit spam. No name, account or location. Raw reports are deleted after 90 days.
  • No TSU or vendor data feed and no GPS on the shuttles. If the server can't be reached, the page says so instead of showing anything made up.
